Hidalgo, a Cambridge based product design company, formed in 1997, has developed Equivital in co-operation with the United States Army Research Institute of Environmental Medicine. Hidalgo specializes in medical device design and radio communications, and has customers and suppliers in Europe, the US and the Far East. The emphasis is on designing products for medium and high volume production runs.

Equivital^TM - Performance Monitoring

Equivital can be used to monitor sportsmen and sportswomen during training and, in some cases, racing events. The addition of respiratory rate and activity level offers the next level of performance measurement from simple heart rate monitoring.

The device has been trialed successfully in Formula One and on members of a professional football club.

The device is not just limited to human use; Equivital could be used to monitor thoroughbred horses and possibly other animals during training and racing.
